Topic: Wireless Telecommunications (Continuation of BAI thesis)
Research Group: CTVR, The Telecommunications Research Centre.
Technologies included C++, XML, Matlab, some Python and OFDM (wireless technology). Left due to insufficient funding.

I worked on a software radio project similar to gnu radio which ran on both Windows and Linux and thus I developed on both of these platforms.
My work mainly consisted of writing DSP components in C++.
Different combinations of these components could be wrapped in xml to achieve a flexible software radio.
In windows I coded using Visual Studios and on Linux I used Code Blocks.
This project made a lot of use of the boost C++ libraries.
I supervised projects using visual basic, C++ and C# as well as Matlab.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
In this position I worked on a variety of tasks including porting the Spring MVC backend of the existing white label site to a RESTful API, interfacing with the Amazon AWS interface in java to transfer content from existing hosting cloud space, updating to the current java and tomcat versions, proifiling using new relic synthetics, batch scheduling using cron jobs and a host of other day to day development tasks. Main Duties & Responsibilities:
In this position I worked on windows/Eclipse development environment with the application running primarily on Linux with a Sybase or Oracle DB. The development cycle itself was agile with morning scrums determining the actions of the day. Primarily test driven development was used with the initial design and unit testing done in JUnit and integration testing done either via the murex test packages or using Fitnesse.
I started my position within Murex in the PAC (Performance and Architecture) team,working on writing a tool to replay customer activity with a view to improving the performance and identifying bottlenecks that would or had caused caused issues.
After this I moved to client support working with a team of developers maintaining and expanding the product to meet the needs of customers. My tasks ranged from quickly isolating and fixing client issues, to developing new client focused features. Along with other smaller projects and bug fixing, I worked on the refactor of legacy code in a particular module of the application. Within this I worked on the import/export of ‘limits’, essentially writing dom and sax xml parsers.
In this company the teams existed in different countries and so it was vital to be able to efficiently work remotely with other members of the company regardless of their geographical location.
Primarily working in Java, SQL and XML.
Technologies and tools that I used in this position include java, junit, Maven, Jenkins, SQL , hibernate, eclipse, ant, xml, unix, perforce, jira and peoplesoft.
